Verify a Spanish invoice QR code — Spain, Portugal and the Basque provinces all put a tax QR code on every invoice: Verifactu (AEAT), TicketBAI (Álava, Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa) and the Portuguese AT code, mandatory there since 2021. Everyone scans them one by one with a phone. Nobody does the free check that comes first: does the QR match what the invoice itself says? If the paper reads 1,210 € and the QR reads 1,150 €, something is wrong. The Portuguese code carries the whole invoice inside, so its arithmetic is checked within the code itself — offline. You also get the tax-office link ready to click, rebuilt from the four data points even when the QR is damaged. No AI, nothing stored, and we neither query the tax agency nor act as a billing system.
